London-based vocalist Py releases her long-awaited next EP ‘Ghostdance’ on 30th March via her brand-new label, Tilehouse.
Recorded at Red Bull studios in Paris, ‘Ghostdance’ is a game-changer for Py; an EP focused solely on a voice that finally trusts what it has to say. Despite collaborating with a who’s who of contemporary producers in a short but successful career, it’s Py’s own perfectly crafted sound that remains at the fore of a mature and accomplished four-track EP.
A long-time collaborator of Ross Tones (Throwing Snow) who also produced the EP, Py recently featured on his critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Mosaic’ released via Houndstooth, as well as pairing up with US duo Odesza on recent single ‘Echoes’. Previously supported by Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe at Radio 1 who made recent single ‘Polyethers’ his prestigious ‘Next Hype’, Py is here to stay: and it’ll be all on her own terms.
You can also create your own choir of colour and sound and reinterpret my story during the day. Register here for free entrance: http://colourchoir.com
I’m very excited to announce my new project Colour Choir. Taking place from the 3rd- 6th March. Colour Choir is an audio-visual installation from I have created and developed in partnership with Nathan Prince of Silent Studios and longtime Radiohead collaborator Andi Watson. Using a full spectrum of coloured light and 3-D sound this sensory experience explores the relationship between voice, colour and space.
Each night I will perform live with every note and harmony of her voice visualised through 13 light sculptures placed around a railway arch, representing members of a choir.
During the day the installation will be open to the public. Visitors will be able to interact with the installation and create their own arrangement of vocal harmonies, creating a choir of colour and sound, reinterpreting my story.
All music composed, produced and mapped to the space by Py and Throwing Snow. Code and software written by Andreas Müller from Nanika. Produced by Electric Theatre Collective and One House Studios. Made possible by funding from Arts Council England.
With special thanks to Andy Theakstone, Jack Banks, Jaime Ritchie, Jamie Franklin, Kachette, Liam Paton, Matt Williams, Napper Tandy, Nathaniel Self, Positive Focus, Roland, Sofia Ilyas, Sian Jenkins and Silent Studios.
Throwing Snow and I have covered one of my favourite tunes SWV ‘Right Here’
To get into the Christmas Spirit we are giving it away for free via my Bandcamp.
Thanks RedBull.com Music for premiering the song!
I’ve made a mix for @TheDailyStreet based on the music I listen to and make in my room
